Golden Reverie

GOLDEN REVERIE is inspired by the luminescent figurative paintings of Gustav Klimt, a prominent member of the Vienna Secession art movement formed in 1897 by a group of Austrian painters, graphic artists, sculptors and architects. Closely related to Art Nouveau, the Viennese Secession was a departure from realism and traditional fine arts, favoring a more stylized, decorative design approach exploring themes such as love, beauty, and desire. These are reflected in my art quilt that shows a sensual female figure covered by a quilt made of jewel toned geometric shapes, revealing her body as part of the quilt design. I applied gold leaf to pieces of fabric to capture the glistening of gold leaf in Klimt’s paintings.
